The 2024 Strengthening Our Communities Conference in Pasco County, Florida drew over 300 attendees and was dedicated to expanding drug and alcohol recovery programs and mental health resources. Organized by the nonprofit Alliance for Healthy Communities (Pasco’s Alliance for Substance Addiction Prevention coalition) in partnership with the recovery group The Hope Shot, BayCare Behavioral Health, and the Pasco County Sheriff’s Office, the conference aimed to unite community stakeholders and highlight collaborative solutions to addiction and mental health challenges. Attendees participated in networking and breakout sessions covering topics such as substance abuse prevention, treatment resources, and law enforcement–mental health collaboration – all designed to inspire hope and share practical strategies for sustaining recovery. Notably, Pasco Sheriff Chris Nocco delivered opening remarks and former NBA star Lamar Odom provided a keynote address sharing his personal recovery story, underscoring the event’s focus on hope, resilience, and cross-sector partnership in strengthening the community.
